On the morning of March 21, IAVA's Deputy Policy Director presented IAVA's 2012 policy priorities before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees.Chairwoman Murray, Chairman Miller, Ranking Members Burr and Filner, members of both Committees, on behalf of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America’s over 200,000 member veterans and supporters, thank you for inviting me to present IAVA’s legislative priorities for 2012.

IAVA Hosts Fleet Week Job Fair for Bay Area Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans

IAVA announced its First Annual Fleet Week Smart Job Fair will be held from 12-5 p.m. on October 6 at the War Memorial Green Room in San Francisco. It is the first of five events being held around the country as part of IAVA’s Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) America partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Cover of TIME: The Face of the Next Greatest Generation

Eight years ago, after the capture of Saddam Hussein in a spider hole, TIME Magazine named The American Soldier its “Person of the Year.” It was an iconic cover story that put a face on these wars and played a decisive role in getting Americans to separate personal politics from their treatment of our troops.

IAVA Meets with First Lady Michelle Obama and Key Leaders in the White House

IAVA met with First Lady Michelle Obama and key administration officials in the Roosevelt Room at the White House. Fifteen Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who are participating in IAVA’s annual Storm the Hill trip discussed the challenges they face and action they would like to see from the White House on the veteran unemployment crisis.
